FAQs About Hotels With Swim-Up Rooms in Greece

My Private Pool at Hotel Santorin Greece
A view from our private pool overlooking the Caldera in Santorini, Greece.

What is a swim-up hotel room?

A swim-up hotel room is a room, suite, or villa where you can access a pool directly from your room or the terrace attached to your room. In most swim-up hotels, one pool will be connected to multiple rooms in order to offer many swim-up room offerings. However, there are plenty of swim-up rooms that connect to private pools that are for your traveling party only.

How deep are swim-up rooms?

On average, swim-up pools are around 4ft deep. This gives enough depth so that you can have a dip or plunge, but it’s not so deep that children or people who aren’t strong swimmers are at risk. They’re also relatively shallow to prevent people from jumping in directly from their rooms which can result in injury.

What is a swim-up pool bar?

Similarly, to a swim-up room, a swim-up pool bar is a normally outdoor bar where patrons don’t need to leave the pool in order to get their drink. In these cases, drinks are often served in plastic glasses to prevent breakages in the pool. It allows visitors to enjoy a cocktail or beer in the pool without having to dry off first – it’s definitely a luxurious experience.

What are the benefits of a swim-up room?

There are plenty of benefits of a swim-up room! You get to enjoy pool access without having to wander through the hotel, you can get changed in the comfort of your room and be instantly in the pool, and you don’t have to do that awkward towel walk back to your room at the end of your dip. What’s not to love about that?
